III Deliberative democracy summer school
Turku Åbo, Finland 27 – 29 June 2018
The Finnish Centre for Democracy Research at the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University has the pleasure to announce the third deliberative democracy summer school and invites postgraduate students and early career researchers to take part. The summer school is held in collaboration with the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance at the University of Canberra. Please find the call for papers attached.
The three-day summer school focuses on the implementation of citizen deliberation as a democratic practice in relation to representative and direct democracy. The program consists of three keynote lectures, methods sessions and paper workshops, where participants will have the opportunity to present their research and receive valuable feedback from the speakers and other participants.
There is no registration fee, but the participants have to pay their own travel and accommodation. However, both international and domestic applicants have the opportunity to apply for travel grants.

Summer school dinner
The summer school dinner is held at restaurant Hus Lindman. The summer school covers the expenses for all participants.
Accommodation
The summer school offer several accommodation possibilities for the participants, which are all available between June 26 and June 30. However, the number of rooms in each option is limited.
Single room (€49 per night), Double room for two persons (€65 per night total)
An affordable hostel located in the Turku city centre, about 15 minutes by foot from the universities. Shared showers/toilets; wifi, air conditioning and breakfast included.
