It will be done in the framework of the PROMETEE and the SMARTER projects.

The abstract of this webinar

The direction of scientific research is decided upon in laboratories, by highly specialised scientists. Society is never present at this stage, either via political representation or direct democracy. However, few decisions engage the future of humanity as deeply and as long as the decisions that orient the dynamics of techno-science.

Via the PROMETEE project, we are attempting to introduce social participation and collective decision-making on the choices faced by laboratory researchers, i.e. choices on matters definitively incomprehensible for everyone apart from the highly specialised scientific community involved each time. This methodological experiment in techno-scientific democracy will ideally lead to a guide for organising public participation in the scientific black box.

Le résumé de ce webinaire

L'orientation de la recherche scientifique est décidée dans les laboratoires, par des scientifiques hautement spécialisés. La société n'est jamais présente à ce stade, que ce soit par le biais de la représentation politique ou de la démocratie directe. Pourtant, peu de décisions engagent l'avenir de l'humanité aussi profondément et aussi longtemps que les décisions qui orientent la dynamique de la techno-science.

A travers le projet PROMETEE, nous tentons d'introduire la participation sociale et la prise de décision collective sur les choix auxquels sont confrontés les chercheurs en laboratoire, c'est-à-dire des choix sur des questions définitivement incompréhensibles pour tout le monde en dehors de la communauté scientifique hautement spécialisée qui y participe à chaque fois. Cette expérience méthodologique de démocratie techno-scientifique débouchera idéalement sur un guide pour organiser la participation du public dans la boîte noire scientifique.
